Pit bull attacks child

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) - A five-year-old Jefferson County boy is recovering after being attacked by a pit-bull.

Brookside Fire chief Donnie Huey says a stray dog attacked the boy while he played in his yard in the 100 block of Walnut Street in the Cardiff community. The boy was taken to Children's Hospital in Birmingham where Huey says he is being treated for injuries to his head and face.

Following the attack Huey says the boy's father killed the dog. Chief Huey calls this an isolated incident and says it could have been a lot worse. The child's injuries are not believed to be life threatning.
