Jeffco employees may not return to work full-time

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Jefferson County employees currently on administrative leave because of the county's financial crisis may not be working 40 hours a week when they are called back to work next month.

Thursday, acting finance director Travis Hulsey said unless the county gets a bridge loan from Regions Bank, the workers will likely not be working full time.  Over 700 county workers were placed on administrative leave in August because of the county's budget crisis, due to the loss of the occupational tax.

The county also plans on re-opening at lease one satellite courthouse in October, first on the list being the Greensprings location.  The county is considering opening another satellite courthouse, but the decision on which one has not yet been made.
