BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Singing sensation and Hannah Montana star, Miley Cyrus, is set to perform at BJCC Arena.
Her tour makes a stop in Birmingham on October 23rd, but there's been a bit of a set back.
The BJCC Board will have to spend 100-thousand dollars for steel work in the arena.
The rafters need to be improved to hold production equipment.
The problem is complying with the state bid law in time for the concert.
Officials say they wish Cyrus' promoters would have given them more notice about the changes.
Fans fear the concert will be cancelled.
"People my age love her. We look forward to seeing her..... so lots of disappointed teenagers." said 15 year-old Cindy Hoang.
Said 11 year-old Mary Kate Beasley,"When you hear of her coming to do a concert, you don't think she'll be coming here. A lot of people are excited."
But officials are committed to the concert and say fans have nothing to worry about.
Jack Fields, Executive Director of the BJCC says the changes will be a rush job, but it can be done.
