Shelby County passes smaller budget

SHELBY COUNTY, AL (WBRC) - Shelby County is tightening their belts for the next fiscal year.

Commissioners passed an 84-million dollar budget. While that seems like a lot, it doesn't allow any money for new employees or pay raises and no funding for 31 positions requested by Sheriff Chris Curry.

The sheriff's department says they got the proposed budget last week but have yet to see the final version.
