Jefferson County Commission to bring back 40 workers

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - The Jefferson County Commission has voted to return 40 workers back to their jobs. The workers will be designated to the revenue and tax collections departments to help bring in money.

The resolution passed 4-1 in the meeting. Only Commissioner Bobby Humphryes voted against the resolution. Commissioners Bell, Smoot, Collins and Carns all voted in favor.

The Commission opted to not vote on bringing one-thousand workers back from administrative leave.

This new resolution was offered by Commissioner William Bell. Bell says he felt that it would be wrong to attempt to bring workers back before being able to pay them.
