BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Work to improve the WBRC digital TV signal across Alabama was nearing completion Monday as tower crews worked to get the final pieces installed on the WBRC-TV tower.
The new WBRC DTV antenna was hoisted and mounted on the tower Saturday morning, replacing the old Channel 6 antenna. The crew used a temporary crane to lift the old antenna above and out of the top of the tower, then place the new antenna in its place.
Terry Schrader of Schrader Broadcast Services told FOX6 News Monday morning he was hoping to have the antenna connected and online by mid-week.
The new antenna replaced the old Channel 6 antenna on the top of the tower, allowing Channel 6 to broadcast its signal further than the standby DTV antenna, which is mounted on the side of the tower, will reach.
