BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Attorneys from across Birmingham delivered rolls of toilet paper to the Jefferson County jail Wednesday after inmates complained of toilet paper rationing.
The Greater Birmingham Criminal Defense Attorneys supplied toilet paper and soap to the the Jefferson County Jail. Attorneys bought the paper and soap after several inmates complained of rationing.
Lt. Randy Christian of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department said the county's financial crisis did force the department to make spending cuts, but Christian said the health of the inmates was never threatened.
"We had to tighten out belts up to be frugal with everything," said Christian. "That is true across the board."
