Shoppers enjoyed Labor Day deals

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - The Labor Day weekend impressed many people looking for sales.

At the Pinnacle Shopping Center in Trussville, just about every store was advertising discounts.

Many retailers were hoping to move lots of inventory as they prepare for new fall merchandise.

Shoppers were excited and some say they expected to save big this Labor Day weekend.

"I did expect the sales. I got lots of emails saying there would be sales," said shopper Heather Johnson. "So it's very good to take advantage of that."

Retailers were hoping for large crowds, not just today but over the entire Labor Day weekend as well.

They are trying to get September sales off to a good start.

In the U.S., retailers saw a drop in sales last month..
