Voice vote made on new tax referendum

MONTGOMERY, AL (WBRC) - The Jefferson County House delegation has made a voice vote and passed the new occupational tax bill and on the accountability bill.

The delegation was split on the vote on the tax bill that would be phased out by 2017, but voted unanimously on the accountability bill.

This accountability bill will force the County to hire a manager by 2011 and will require a comptroller to be hired this year.

The issue will next be voted on in the Senate and many want to see this decided among the Jefferson County delegates.
