Georgetown Hoya's coach teaching life lessons

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Georgetown University coach John Thompson III taught basketball and life lessons at the first annual AA Sewell basketball camp. Thompson, who took his team to the final four last year, says his visit to Birmingham, is one the most important coaching jobs of his career.

"In the course of doing our jobs of trying to prepare young men in life you'll teach and have some impact on some people," said Thompson. Thompson and head coaches from Alabama State University and Stillman College were on hand to work with kids on more than their jumpshot.

They wanted the kids to know that athletics may get them into college but its hard work in the classroom that'll get them through.
