Time, Inc. to Close "Southern Accents" Magazine

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - TIME, Inc. plans to shutdown "Southern Accents" Magazine.  The website, southernaccents.com, will remain up and running.  Birmingham-based, Southern Progress, puts out the magazine.  TIME did not say how many of the 29 employees would be laid off. This is the second time this year a Southern Progress magazine has been shutdown. They now plan to focus on their most popular magazine, "Southern Living".

"Southern Accents" has been in publication for 32 years and had a circulation of more than 400,000.  The magazine was published six times a year and focused on luxurious homes, entertaining, travel, fine arts and antiques.
