Jefferson County lawmakers reach agreement on job tax bill

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Jefferson County lawmakers voted Tuesday to endorse an occupational tax bill.

The vote was 13-4-1 to include a version of the bill written by Democratic lawmaker John Rogers. The lawmakers also want to pass a bill requiring Jefferson County commissioners to hire a county manager and a comptroller.

Lawmakers forwarded their endorsement to Governor Bob Riley, waiting for him to call a special session, which could happen early next week.
