BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Jefferson County satellite courthouses were swamped with people Friday, trying to take care of unfinished business before the doors closed.
As a result of the county's financial troubles, satellite courthouses will close, and hundreds of county employees will be placed on administrative leave. Many people at the Homewood location said they waited two or more hours to take care of unfinished business.
"I didn't know the line would be this long, honestly," said resident Tracy Ross.
Right before the doors closed at 5:00 p.m., the line of people waiting in Homewood wrapped around, and even spilled outside the building.
County employees worked to keep things organized, and keep the line moving as quickly as possible.
Many people said waiting in line for hours was ridiculous and frustrating. "I brought a book and I read half of it," said Sophia Hansen. "It's been a little frustrating because I had other things to do with my day."
