BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Sheriff Mike Hale and the Jefferson County Commission may be heading to another showdown.
On Tuesday, the Commission passed a resolution asking the Sheriff to cut his budget by more than four million dollars. This means it may be up to a Jefferson County circuit judge to decide if this proposed cut is fair or not.
The Commission okayed the resolution for the Hale cut on Tuesday morning. The County wanted to cut the sheriff by more than five million dollars earlier but a judge stopped them.
Last week, Hale offered almost three million dollars in cuts. Commission President Bettye Fine Collins says that is not good enough in this funding crisis.
