AL Chief Justice offers to bail out Jeffco juvenile courts

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - In a meeting on Monday, Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Sue Bell Cobb says she will bail out Jefferson County juvenile courts. Cobb says she will try to find the $316-thousand to keep the juvenile courts operating through September. She also raised concerns about the other court operations.

Judge Scott Vowell says courts will be operating next week, but is worried over the threat of an electrical problem. Without county workers to fix the issue, it could shut down courts after all.

Jefferson County Sheriff Mike Hale has volunteered deputies for security over the courts next week.
