Juvenile court judge says cuts will hurt the system

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Jefferson County budget cuts could have a huge impact on the county's juvenile court system. Judge Brian Huff says 65 of his 88 employees will be placed on administrative leave next month, accounting for three-fourths of the court's overall workforce. And while employees are affected, the court's operation is also in jeopardy. Huff says some cases could be postponed indefinitely. Another big concern for the juvenile court is not having anyone to handle security, or do intakes once staff is cut.
