Man may have been struck twice by vehicles

MCCALLA, AL (WBRC) - A man may have been struck twice in separate hit-and-runs.

The Jefferson County Sheriff' Department says that a motorist stopped to help when he saw a body lying in the roadway just before 1:00 a.m. Thursday morning in the 6400 block of the Old Tuscaloosa Highway. He reported the victim seemed lifeless and severely damaged. While the motorist was attempting to help, another vehicle ran over the victim and continued driving.

The Sheriff's Department says the victim was a 71-year-old McCalla man who lived nearby and was known to walk the area. Police are witholding the identity until the family of the man is notified.
