BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -- The Jefferson County Commission has announced that there are more layoffs to come.
That is in addition to the 200 laborer expected to be laid off next week.
The Commission will discuss the need for more layoffs tomorrow.
Commission President Bettye Fine Collins says the county is approaching a state of emergency and is asking the governor to declare a state of emergency in the county. Collins says that the only payroll they are sure of paying and meeting is July 24th.
