New drunk driving crackdown to lead up to Labor Day

MONTGOMERY, AL (WBRC) -- Alabama is planning a crackdown on drunken driving during the two weeks leading up to Labor Day.

Governor Bob Riley is launching the "Drunk Driving: Over the Limit, Under Arrest" campaign. It will run from August 21st to September 7th.

Extra law enforcement officers will be on the highways during those days.

The Governor has awarded $250-thousand  in grants to help pay overtime for law enforcement during the campaign.
