Major cuts coming to Hoover school sports

HOOVER, AL (WBRC) -- Major cuts have been decided for Hoover's school board.

41 coaching positions have been slashed from six different sports.

The board decided this last night to save the system about 120-thousand dollars a year in salary supplements and benefits.

The cuts included 17 indoor track coaches at the city's two high schools and three middle schools.

Hoover and Spain Park High Schools each will lose three Assistant football coaches, three cheerleading coaches, an Assistant baseball coach, an assistant cross country coach and an assistant coach in outdoor track.
