Okra & Tomato Fritters

1 1/2 cups SR flour

2 cups SR white cornmeal

1 tsp. baking powder

2 tsp. salt

dash of cayenne

1 beaten egg

1 cup buttermilk

1/2 cup whole milk

3/4 cup diced onion

3/4 cup diced green tomato

3/4 cup finely sliced fresh okra

1 each chopped jalapeno (if desired)

Combine dry ingredients and mix well.  Add onions, tomatoes, okra, and wet ingredients and mix well.  Should form a dense, thick batter.  Best if prepared a few hours ahead of time and refrigerated.  Deep fry one inch balls at 300 degrees for about 6 minutes.
