Electronic bingo coming to Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, AL (WBRC) -- Electronic bingo is on its way to the city of Fairfield.

On Thursday night, the city council unanimously approved an ordinance to allow the charity operations.

City leaders hope this will be a way to increase revenue coming into the city. They will receive $100 a month per machine for the first three years. It will then jump to $150 after that.

The bingo halls will be allowed to stay open 24-hours a day/seven days a week.

The city council passed the ordinance even though the legality of the machines is still being debated.
