Pet owners urged to get pets fixed

The Alabama Spay and Neuter Clinic in Birmingham is urging pet owners to get their pets spayed or neutered.

Tens of thousands of animals are put to sleep at shelters in Alabama because of overcrowding.

The clinic is trying to attract more pet owners by offering low cost, high quality surgeries.

Surgical fees range from 38 to 68 dollars and there is also a free transportation service.

The clinic will come pick up your pet, bring it to the clinic for the surgery and take it back home.

The Alabama Spay and Neuter Clinic has been open for a little more than a year and this week will perform it's ten-thousandth surgery.

A coupon was inside was inside Sunday's Birmingham News for five dollars off any male dog or male cat neuter.

    The Birmingham City School board has amended their uniform policy for the upcoming school year. Students will now have the option to adhere to a school dress code or wear a school uniform. According to the board's Policy Committee, teachers and administrators are spending valuable time making sure students are adhering to the uniform policy.
