Edwards Chevy Stuff a truck - WBRC FOX6 News - Birmingham, AL

Edwards Chevy and Hands On Birmingham need your help to stuff our trucks with school supplies. Our goal is to provide completely filled, grade appropriate backpacks to area children in need. This is a great DIY (do it yourself) type project that can be done at your school, church or office. All backpacks for city schools must be clear or mesh.

Backpacks and school supplies should be dropped off at either of the Edwards Chevy dealerships. Please refer to the map links to see which location is closest to you.

Where do the backpacks go? In the past we have given them to YWCA, Salvation Army, Pathways Shelter, Gateway, Jessie's Place, Children's Village, The Kings Ranch, Hannah Home, Safehouse, AIDS Alabama and Birmingham AIDS Outreach.

How do I know what is "grade appropriate"?  In most stores a kiosk will be located at the front or near the backpacks. Just grab a supply list for whatever grade you choose and fill the backpack accordingly.

Does it matter if the backpacks are gender specific? If you wish to fill a backpack with gender specific supplies, please place a tag on the outside of the pack stating if it's for a boy or girl.

What if the store I'm purchasing supplies from doesn't have supply lists? If you can't locate a supply list please consider filling the backpack with the following: Loose leaf paper, notebooks, binders, folders, pens, pencils, highlighters, markers, crayons, construction paper and erasers.
