Second fire at Hospitality Inn this week ‘under control’; Fire believed to be intentionally set

Hospitality Inn believed to be set on fire second time this week

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Birmingham firefighters are back on the scene of another fire at the Hospitality Inn.

Birmingham fire authorities say Thursday’s fire at the vacant building was intentionally set.

As of 4:45 p.m., Fire Chief Sebastian Carillo says the fire is under control but it’s not 100 percent contained due to wind.

Chief Carillo added that one firefighter has a minor burn and is being treated on site.

The first fire at the motel happened Tuesday morning. Firefighters say Tuesday’s fire was also intentionally set.

Tuesday’s fire destroyed most of the building and surrounding buildings. Chief Carillo says Thursday’s fire affected buildings that were unharmed on Tuesday.

Chief Carillo says Thursday’s fire was a 2 alarm fire and added all people are businesses near the Hospitality Inn are OK.
