BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - There will be more than one winner when the Birmingham Iron or Memphis Express play.
As the two AAF teams play their inaugural game in the new league Sunday, a friendly wager between Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin and Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland will benefit an organization in the winning team’s city.
Woodfin arranged the wager Friday on Twitter, tweeting to Strickland that if the Iron wins, the Express provides lunch for the A.G. Gaston Boys and Girls Club. If the Express come out victorious, the Iron will donate to the Mid-South Food Bank in Memphis.
Strickland was fully up for the challenge, saying in part: “Hope the (Iron) bring their A-game against the (Express) because in Memphis--we don’t bluff."
The Iron and Express kick off at Legion Field at 3 p.m.
