BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - On Thursday night, a thief made off with an expensive event bus from a Birmingham transportation company.
After past break-ins, Prideline Transportation put in a state of the art surveillance system around and inside its building. The new tech caught someone on camera breaking in Thursday night about 10:30 p.m.
“It appeared he was searching for something in the shop. He spent 30 minute walking around looking back and forth,” Walter Turner, Director of Prideline said. The thief stole some tools, got some keys to seven different buses, but that’s not all he took.
“Also one of the mechanics had left his shoes there. He took his shoes off and put the mechanic shoes on. Left his shoes here.” Turner said.
Outside, the man used the keys to eventually chose one of the company’s 2014 Mercedes event buses to steal. “I hope someone can spot it. It was a black Mercedes Sprinter with on both sides in the back Prideline written on the back of it,” Turner said.
The company also has school buses for special needs students. No school bus was taken, but the man stole four gallon bottles of bleach used to disinfect the school buses and protect children from the flu and other viruses.
Finally, just after 11:00 p.m. you see the guy barreling through and breaking the company gate. “We hope this will not put any of our other vehicles into any type of problem and we will continue to run as we should run,” Turner said.
Anyone with information about the bus theft is asked to contact the Birmingham Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
