BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - The AHSAA State Bowling Championships wrapped up Friday at Oak Mountain Lanes in Pelham. Southside Gadsden won the Class 1A-7A girls division for the third straight year after defeating Thompson in the final round.
“All year long we’ve been trying as hard as we can. There’s been a couple of times we’ve been scared, but we pulled together and pulled through,” said Southside bowler Grace Ann Clontz.
After finishing second each of the last two years, Vestavia Hills boys beat East Limestone 1,538-1,503 in the championship round to take home the Rebels first state title in school history.
“The last three years have been rough for us because we make it to state and come up short in the finals, but this year I’m just so glad we won. Our hard work finally paid off,” Vestavia Hills bowler Cameron Monistere said.
