TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, AL (WBRC) - Drivers should expect lane closures on a major highway in Tuscaloosa County, starting Wednesday. You want to plan accordingly to avoid traffic delays.
Near the intersection of McFarland Blvd. and Highway 69 North, road work will take place here starting at 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. today.
There will be temporary lane closures on Highway 69 North near Highway 82 North in the Southbound inside and Northbound lanes. The Highway 69 left through optional lane and Highway 82 East inside left turn lane will also be periodically closed during this time.
ALDOT is installing a separator curb in this area to help decrease traffic accidents in that area. They made similar safety changes south of this intersection last November.
“It's designed for you to go right and people will force it left and shoot across lanes of traffic and they shouldn't be doing that. So it's a safety measure for us to put up those vertical delineators to ensure that people follow the way traffic is suppose to go,” said West Alabama ALDOT spokesperson John McWilliams.
Lane closures will be going on in this area until this Friday again from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
