5 Alabama junior football players declare for NFL Draft

Alabama players announce entering NFL draft

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Three University of Alabama football players made official announcements that they were leaving school early for the NFL Draft. Two other players were not present at Friday but also announced they will not return.

Offensive lineman Jonah Williams, defensive lineman Quinnen Williams and running back Josh Jacobs made their announcements Friday morning at the Mal Moore Athletic Complex.

Nick Saban joined the three now-former Tide players. He credited them for representing the school well and being winners on and off the field.

The three players leave the program after winning a national championship and two SEC Championships.

“I was really grateful for my college career I was fortunate to have. I want to thank this university for the opportunities it’s afforded me and with that being said. I’m declaring for the NFL Draft,” Jonah Williams said.

A fourth Alabama player, tight end Irv Smith Jr., is also turning pro. He was unable to attend today’s announcement because he and others on the squad are attending a teammate’s wedding this weekend. And a fifth player, defensive back Savion Smith, announced Saturday on social media that he will forego his senior season.
