SAN ANTONIO, TX (WBRC) - Mark it on the calendar - February 10, 2019.
The Birmingham Iron of the Alliance of American Football makes history that date by playing its first game ever. The Iron will open its inaugural season at home at Legion field against Memphis.
The team is busy in San Antonio for training camp, Thursday marked Day 6, and quarterback Luis Perez says things are going great.
“We are getting better, that is what I am seeing,” said Perez. “Like I always say, iron sharpens iron, I know it is cliché’, but that’s the truth and we are working together and becoming a team.”
The Iron will be in San Antonio the remainder of the month as the club looks to trim its roster and get ready for the opener. Former University of Alabama players Blake Sims and Trent Richardson are battling for a roster spot.
