BRIGHTON, AL (WBRC) - Jefferson County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a shooting at a Brighton convenience store.

Authorities say two people were injured during the shooting. A male victim has critical injuries and a female victim has non-life-threatening injuries.

The shooting happened at the Chevron convenience store on Jaybird Road.

Police say early information from the scene is that a male went to the convenience store with a female to sell a gun to a second man. During the transaction inside the car, the first man pulled a gun and began firing. The second man returned fire inside the car.

The second man fled after the shooting. The first man has critical conditions and the female was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle.
