NASHVILLE, TN (WBRC) - It took Auburn only 63 seconds to establish its dominance Friday.
Auburn scored on the third play of the game and didn’t take its foot off the gas in the 63-14 win until the game was well in hand. The Tigers scored on all six first-half offensive possession (discounting taking a knee to go to halftime) and on an inception, then added a touchdown to open the second half.
In his finale as the Tigers quarterback, Jarrett Stidham was a machine. The NFL Draftee declarer threw for 373 yards and five touchdowns on 15 of 21 passing. Stidham’s favorite target, Darius Slayton, had 160 yards and three touchdowns on three receptions.
The win is a statement in that its the first game in several years head coach Gus Malzahn has called the offensive plays, but it was also historic.
Auburn’s 56 points in the first half is the most in college football bowl game history. And the Tigers' 63 points is the most an SEC team has ever scored in a bowl game.
