TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) - There aren’t many - if any - teams than recruit like Alabama. The Crimson Tide snag talent nationwide but also scoop up the best talent locally.
On Wednesday, Alabama signed six local players, including two of the best quarterbacks in the area.
Taulia Tagovailoa of Thompson High and Hewitt-Trussville’s Paul Tyson have battled each other on the field in Class 7A, Region 3, but the two will now compete for spots on the depth chart in Tuscaloosa.
Both names should be familiar to Tide fans. Tagovailoa is the younger brother of Alabama starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Tyson is the great grandson of legendary coach Paul “Bear” Bryant. Both recruits are rated as 4-star prospects by 24/7.
While Tagovailoa and Tyson are familiar with each other, they each have an offensive lineman from high school coming with them to Tuscaloosa.
Hewitt-Trussville offensive tackle Pierce Quick is another 4-star prospect who signed with the Crimson Tide on Wednesday.
Thompson’s Amari Kight, also a 4-star prospect, officially joined the Crimson Tide by signing his letter of intent. He, along with the entire class that signed Wednesday, will enroll at Alabama in January.
On the defensive side of the ball, Clay-Chalkville tackle D.J. Dale signed his letter of intent Wednesday. Dale will join the Crimson Tide with plenty of size, being listed at 6-foot-3, 323 pounds.
On of the most important signees Wednesday for the Crimson Tide is Hoover kicker Will Reichard. Reichard is listed as a 3-star by 24/7 and the top kicker in the the state. He could have an immediate impact in Tuscaloosa.
