BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Forty minutes wasn’t enough for Auburn and UAB on Saturday.
The Tigers and Blazers needed overtime to decide the winner at the Mike Slive Invitational. In the end, it was Auburn, 75-71, that was victorious.
Auburn was led by superstar point guard Jared Harper, who scored a game-high 31 points. Harper was key for the Tigers at the free-throw line late, including making 15 of 16 shots from the stripe.
Jalen Perry was the Blazers' top offensive threat, scoring a team-high 18 points. Perry shot 50 percent beyond the arc and made 6 of 13 shots.
UAB’s first-half seven-point lead was the largest of the game. Auburn led by one point at the half.
The Tigers led by three with 10 seconds left, when Jeremiah Bell made a 3-pointer for the Blazers to force overtime. In overtime, Jared Harper scored Auburn’s last six points.
