TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) - Tuscaloosa police have charged two brothers in a shooting in the 1500 block of Skyland Boulevard on Thursday night.

They accuse Duston Dewyane Madison and his brother Larry Leon Bryant of finding someone driving around in an SUV that Bryant reportedly stole earlier. Investigators say the brothers started shooting at the driver after he refused to let them block him in. The 16-year-old driver was shot in the head.

“I think it’s just very sad," Tuscaloosa City Councilman Tyner said.

Tyner said car break-ins and thefts are up around the city. He says the shooting of that teen shows how quickly car thefts can lead to more violence.

“I think this is a certain situation if the police had been called to handle it maybe the young man wouldn’t be hanging on to his life right now,” he said.

Madison and Bryant face attempted murder charges. They could be upgraded if the teen doesn’t survive his injuries.
