Man arrested for carjacking in Homewood

Avoid being a carjacking victim

HOMEWOOD, AL (WBRC) - Police in Homewood have arrested a man accused of carjacking a vehicle in a grocery store parking lot.

31-year-old Corderrel Dewayne Poole of Birmingham has been charged with robbery first degree and theft of property second degree.

The incident happened Monday evening when a woman was trying to leave the Publix on Greensprings Highway.

“She approached the vehicle and tried to get her to stop and he opened the door and forcibly removed her, implying that he might have had a weapon or gun. She believed he might have had a weapon,” said Sgt. John Carr, Homewood Police.

Police expect crimes against people and property to go up as we get closer to the holidays. They say people need to be aware of their surroundings in situations. They also add to call 911 in you see something suspicious.
