BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Boaz native Will Ainswoth made history Tuesday night by being the first Marshall County native to secure the lieutenant governor position. He came to power with his bill to arm teachers with guns, in response to a school shooting in Florida.
Ainsworth ran against Democrat Will Boyd.
He commented on Alabama’s red wave by reminding his supporters Alabama is a red state.
“I will say this, to all Republicans across the state, to the people of Alabama, let’s not forget that we are a red state, we are a conservative state, and we’re a Republican state,” said Ainsworth. “Don’t be fooled by the Doug Jones election.”
He said he will be calling on his business expertise in vowing to tell Alabama’s story to prospective industries looking to locate in the state.
Ainsworth said he is so thankful for the great people of Marshall County for coming out and showing their support for him.
