Hurricane Michael Relief: How to donate to The Salvation Army

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - The Salvation Army is serving those in need after Hurricane Michael impacted several states in the U.S.

On Tuesday, WBRC and the Birmingham Salvation Army, hosted a Hurricane Michael Relief Drive. With your generosity, we raised $72,369.26. If you missed our telethon and want to help, we’ve outlined ways you can donate.

Donors are encouraged to contribute cash. In-kind donations require sorting, boxing, palletizing, storage, and delivery to the disaster location. All these activities can be costly and time consuming, and therefore may delay service delivery. Cash donations allow The Salvation Army to purchase product to quickly and efficiently meet the most urgent needs of disaster victims. When possible, the purchases are made near the disaster site to stimulate the local economy and ensure quicker delivery.
