EUTAW, AL (WBRC) - A group that included Alabama Governor Kay Ivey and elected officials around Greene County all the way to Congress participated in a ground-breaking ceremony for a new Love’s Travel Center in Eutaw.
“You see the people here today? Because they’re ready for change. They’re ready for progress. They’re ready for growth,” Eutaw Mayor Raymond Steele explained.
Nearly a hundred people attended a ceremony welcoming the business to the area. It will employ 43 people and service up to 1,000 trucks a day, according to company officials. Love’s will be located on Exit 40 off I-20/59
“It’s a really great location. Being up from Tuscaloosa and down from Birmingham, it’s a great spot. So the location was a huge piece of this,” Jenny Love Meyer said.
Besides offering gas, the travel center will also include a Hardees, a Godfather’s Pizza, and Chester’s Chicken. “I truly believe it’s going to spur many other businesses to move to Eutaw,” Steele went on to say.
Construction should start in January and depending on weather, the travel center could be up and running sometime next fall.
