ETOWAH COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -Etowah County investigators have charged an Altoona woman with arson and burglary.
Authorities say Crystal Kay McClung, 37, admitted to breaking into an unoccupied home on Egypt Road and taking canned food. She then started a small campfire within a few inches of the house that resulted in the vinyl siding catching on fire.
She was seen running away from the scene when firefighters arrived.
McClung is charged with one count of third-degree burglary, one count of third-degree arson and one count of fourth-degree theft of property.
She is being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on $4,500 bond.
