TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) -Bus rides are free all week in Tuscaloosa
All week bus riders can ride the routes for free which usually costs one dollar.
It’s going to cost the transit system in Tuscaloosa an extra $115,000 a year to maintain the new Skyland Blvd. route that was introduced Monday.
However Councilor Sonya McKinstry who advocated for the new Skyland route said it’s going help so many people who depend on public transportation to get from point a to point B.
“You can only get to where public transportation is provided so seeing individuals that were in the wee hours walking on jug factory road it didn't matter they needed to get to school, they job or where have you,” said McKinstry.
This is the system's first new route since 2011.
