Gulf Shores under hurricane watch

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Gulf Shores is warning its residents and visitors that it is now under a hurricane watch.

Authorities are urging people to make preparations in the event a hurricane warning is set in place. Double red flags have now been raised and the beaches are currently closed. For a complete list of precautions, please see the city’s website http://www.gulfshoresal.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=453.

In Florida, the Air Force has begun evacuating non-essential personnel from Tyndall Air Force Base. Tyndall is a training base for the FA-22 Raptor and is also part of NORAD.
