BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - The sky is mostly clear tonight with overnight lows heading into the lower 60s. We will continue with a mostly dry and unseasonably hot weather pattern. Temperatures will again reach the mid-90s. The heat index will hit around 99 during the afternoon.
By Friday, we’ll see a slightly better chance for rain and storms. The best chance for rain will come during the afternoon and evening. Expect rain chances around 30 percent during the afternoon. Most of the rain should end by high school football time. Temperatures at the games will mainly be in the mid-80s with a partly cloudy sky.
The weekend forecast will remain hot and mostly dry. We’ll see a slightly higher coverage of rain during the afternoon. Rain chances will climb to 30 percent. Highs will reach the lower 90s. If you’re going to either the Auburn or Alabama game, expect mostly sunny and hot conditions.
The forecast for next week looks a bit more unsettled with more clouds and a better chance for daily showers and storms. We’re tracking some cooler temperatures by the end of the week. Expect a strong cold front to arrive by early Friday. Temperatures will likely fall into the lower 60s next Friday morning with highs in the lower 80s.
