(WBRC) - Being a first responder is not an easy job under normal conditions.
Dealing with the conditions in the wake of Florence sometimes makes it extremely dangerous.
Crews worked Thursday rescuing those trapped by the rising flood waters.
"Swift water is one of the more dangerous things we deal with in this line of work,” said Captain Ryan Farrell. “You’ve got streets, roadways, yards, that are flooded. And you can’t see what’s under you. A common hazard is foot entanglement.”
